The New Radar Line Provides the Most Extensive Offering of GPS-enabled Detectors

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 -- Cobra Electronics (Nasdaq: COBR) announces the launch of its new high performance radar line providing advances in photo enforcement detection, as well as offering enhanced detection capabilities and user friendliness. Cobra's 2009 series offers 12 SKUs, including six units compatible with Cobra's new AURA(TM) Camera and Driving Hazard Database. AURA, which stands for Advanced Universal Road Alert, warns drivers of thousands of roadway threats that could cause unintended traffic violations as well as accidents.

The AURA database stores GPS coordinates of speed and red light cameras and driving hazards. Users can access this database online and download daily updates onto a GPS locator (a USB flash drive). This GPS locator connects to select 2009 Cobra radar detectors and synchronizes the coordinates with the radar detector for the most current and accurate camera alerts. Drivers can also add up to 1,000 location-based alerts to ensure that they are alerted to temporary or moveable driving threats and set their own speed limit warnings.

"With our 2009 line of detectors, dependability and accessibility were paramount," said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Cobra. "With the addition of the AURA database, we now offer the most comprehensive detectors on the market. With six AURA-capable products at various price points, the 2009 line makes this sophisticated technology available to anyone who wants the most advanced radar detectors at an affordable price."

Following the success of the 2008 series of Cobra detectors, the 2009 line once again offers Cobra mainstay features drivers have come to rely on, high-resolution, full-color displays, maximum detection range and the best possible advance warning to even the fastest of the instant-on radar guns

-- POP Mode. The 2009 series builds on the solid base of Cobra's expert radar detector technology by introducing two new innovations with the addition of Intelliscope(TM) and Intelliview(TM). The patent-pending Intelliscope feature uses GPS technology to specify the direction of location-based alerts relative to your moving vehicle and Intelliview provides a "picture in picture" view so you can easily see radar alerts simultaneously with GPS locator based alerts.

Cobra's 2009 line of radar detectors now feature eco-friendly packaging on all radar products and will be available at retailers nationwide and at http://www.cobra.com beginning March 2009. The 12 SKU series offers radar detectors with price points ranging from $60 to $470. To learn more about Cobra's 2009 radar line, visit the Cobra Electronics booth (Central Hall booth #13238) at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, NV. Jan. 8-11, 2009, or find more information at: http://www.cobra.com.
