Once again it's time for another recap of the latest news affecting those interested in LBS, mobile geo positioning, and location-aware technologies... enjoy!
From this week's LBSZone Alert... Welcome once again to your weekly dose of location-based services and
location-aware mobile news and tips.
To start, I'd like to share a tip and suggest the next time you have a
spare 20 minutes that you kick back and check out the latest edition of
the Mobile Industry Review
(#41). James is loads of fun in this edition and yes, he is always full
of this much energy! On the topic of videos, I suggest you also check
out this clip from the recently held FOWA, "Beyond Google Maps"
as presented by Andrew Turner of Mapufacture fame! An interesting look
at the history of maps, introduction to neo-geography, and discussions
of some fabulous open source mapping tools and services. Moving
forward, a friendly reminder to all you mobile innovators... Nokia
wants you! In this first-of-its-kind chance to let mobile application
developers showcase their own innovations, Nokia is inviting entries
for a global contest. This contest for innovative mobile applications
consists of 3 major categories: Eco Challenge, Emerging Markets, and
the Technology showcase. You can take home $25K in cash as well as a
chance to present your application to some VCs... good luck! Finally,
congrats to our Atlanta, GA-based friends at TerraGo Technologies for
rolling out TerraGo Mobile,
compatible Windows Mobile 5 and 6 operating systems, the solution
delivers interactive, intelligent maps and images in geo-enabled PDF
format directly to personnel in the field. Have a great week all and
don't forget, you can connect with hundreds of other mobile technology
leaders via the LBS Group on LinkedIn and remember you can always connect with your's truly via Twitter or Jaiku!
Oh... and finally, let me leave you with a tip. If you're interested in
NAVTEQ tools, tips and trips I suggest you checkout the Navteq
Developer YouTube channel!
Oh, and in closing, remember, we've recently turned on our NEW LBSzone
Career Board... use this resource to place your FREE job opportunities
