Netezza Customer Guy Carpenter to Power Award-Winning Risk Platform for Reinsurance with Netezza Spatial
Netezza 2008 User Conference, Orlando, Fla. â Sept. 16, 2008 â Netezza Corporation (NYSE Arca: NZ), the data warehouse appliance leader, today released Netezza Spatial, an application extension to its high-performance data warehouse appliance. Netezza transformed business intelligence by introducing the simple, fast and cost-efficient data warehouse appliance and is now bringing this same value proposition to location intelligence. With Netezza Spatial, BI professionals, business users and GIS professionals can run location intelligence applications on huge, comprehensive datasets without being hindered by the costs and complexities that previously plagued these deployments.
âI believe that Netezza technology changes the game by enabling enterprise location intelligence on a scale that is not possible with today's technologies,â said Peter Batty, a geospatial visionary and president of Spatial Networking. âIf you are a retail chain and you need to make a decision on the site for a new store within the next three days, it makes a huge difference whether you can just run one analysis which takes two days, or dozens of analyses which take 30 minutes each, allowing you to try a range of assumptions and different models."
To facilitate the seamless integration and analysis of spatial and non-spatial data, Netezza is partnering with leading ETL, GIS and BI/visualization vendors in the market, including Idea Integration, Intergraph, MapInfo, Safe Software, SRC LLC and thincSoft.
Netezza customer Guy Carpenter, the worldâs leading risk and reinsurance specialist, will utilize Netezza Spatial to power its i-aXs® risk platform. âProviding real-time, predictive data to our insurance customers is critical when it comes to natural disasters,â said Shajy Mathai, managing director of Guy Carpenter. âWith Netezza Spatial, we will be able to speed up the analysis of all of our business and spatial data while simplifying our entire process. The combined solution of Netezza, MapInfo and Safe Software provides us the critical tool we need to ensure our customers are getting the most up-to-date information.â
Netezza Spatial was developed by Netezza Developer Network (NDN) innovator Intelligent Integration Systems, Inc. The NDN is a program that enables developers to leverage Netezzaâs high-performance, streaming analytic appliance platform to design and develop applications and algorithms for competitive advantage.
IDC Research estimates the Worldwide Spatial Information Management (SIM) market will grow to $5.1 billion by 20121. âWith the growth we forecast in the SIM market, and the growing need for IT systems to work together towards business goals, there is a real need for organizations to bring together currently siloed business intelligence and spatial data,â said IDC analyst David Sonnen. âVendors like Netezza who make this convergence and coordination possible can provide organizations with a distinct competitive advantage.â
