Rapid ID is providing a quick and low cost method to locate and record
mobile assets, from around the world, for accounting purposes.
San Luis Obispo, CA. USA, July 31, 2008 -- Rapid ID, Inc., an asset tracking and location company using patented mobile communications, is providing a unique system to accurately record the location and status of assets - as required by Sarbanes-Oxley.
The Rapid ID offering includes a communications technology using camera cell phones to record the location of assets. This is done without GPS, RFID or Satellite Communications. When an individual takes a picture of the identification number and/or logo on an asset, such as a vehicle, container, trailer or equipment, that picture is transmitted to a central Rapid ID processing system. Enhanced Cell ID information is added to the identification information for most cell phone pictures in order to provide asset location information. Pictures are transmitted to cell phone modems, keeping the communications at the lowest cost.
The central Rapid ID system processes the camera photo to extract identification information. This information may include alphanumeric lettering, logos, barcodes or special unique company markings. The central processing system converts the identification information to text and sends this information, along with the date, time, and location of the asset, to the accounting department of the asset owner. The picture of the asset is also sent in order to provide asset status.
The format of the output of the Rapid ID data is adjustable and should fit the format required by each public companys accounting needs. The fee for this process is a few cents per asset recorded.
