TruePosition Awarded Patents that Facilitate Location-Based Safety and Security Services for GSM, CDMA and UMTS
Berwyn, PA, July 17, 2008TruePosition, Inc., a leading provider of wireless location technologies and solutions and a subsidiary of Liberty Media Corporation, today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has awarded TruePosition three U.S. patents. The patented technologies are a critical part of the TruePosition Location Platform that is designed to enable mobile wireless service providers to determine the location of mobile phones and wireless devices.
U.S. Patent, "Monitoring of call information in a wireless location system," (United States Patent Number 7,167,713) teaches the technology that enables wireless operators to implement location services for GSM, CDMA, and UMTS with minimal impact on the network. By deploying a passive, wired monitor with the TruePosition Location Platform, TruePosition can quickly task the system, enabling implementation of TruePosition's unique, patented control-channel location technology delivering the fastest, highest accuracy locations possible.
U.S. Patent, Applications processor including a database system, for use in the wireless location system (United States Patent Number 7,271,765), details the internal resource and data management of the TruePosition Location Platform. This system facilitates triggers of location events, collects and stores location information, and performs historical analysis of location-related data for system optimization, enabling TruePosition to deliver more useful and meaningful location information.
TruePositions latest patent is U.S. Patent, Robust, efficient, localization system (United States Patent Number 7,340,259). Using the technology described in this patent, the TruePosition Location Platform is able to detect weaker wireless signals to locate mobile phones faster and with greater accuracy, as a result of sampling and compressing digital representations of received signals.
"The TruePosition Location Platform has evolved into the premier location solution for high capacity, high-performance, location-based safety and security services," stated Stephen Stuut, CEO of TruePosition. "With these technologies, TruePosition can provide the accuracy and consistency that the public needs for solutions such as E-911 in the United States and other emergency number services being developed around the world.
These patent technologies are an important addition to TruePosition's Uplink Time Difference of Arrival (U-TDOA) and Angle of Arrival (AOA) wireless location technologies, allowing TruePosition to offer new classes of location-based safety and security services.
