Content Representation Lineup Now Includes Parking and Trail Map Datasets
(Boston, MA) July 2, 2008 GPSContent.com, a unique content brokerage company, today announced that is has partnered to represent two new content owners. The partnerships allow GPSContent.com to position and promote LBS content offerings from Parkapedia, LLC and US TrailMaps Inc. Both companies have aggregated unique, differentiating datasets and are ready to license them to location-based manufacturers and application developers.
Parkapedias database of parking POIs is unique because the company identified the fact that few mailing address databases have the actual, usable entrances to parking lots or garages accurately placed, if they are marked at all. As anyone who has tried to navigate to a parking garage or large lot can attest, having the entrances placed accurately is an essential element to the end-user experience.
US TrailMaps has identified the fact that many end-users of navigation devices also want to be able to continue to navigate when they leave the paved road. Their ATV and snowmobiling trail maps, when integrated into navigation devices and applications, serve to extend the current range and functionality of PNDs.
Both of these datasets have been identified as useful and in-demand, said Wilson Kerr, Founder of GPSContent.com. Parking is a hassle anytime, let alone when your PND directs you to the business office address, versus the actual entrance to the garage. This content is needed and will allow licensors to differentiate via enhanced utility and customer satisfaction.
US TrailMaps is seeking to allow PND devices to escape the glove compartment, when outdoorsmen and women leave their cars and the paved road behind. In some ways navigating trails and dirt roads not on a map is even more useful than when you are on marked roads, added Kerr.
GPSContent was founded because OEMs are often unable to devote sufficient resources to researching the dizzying array of content potentially available. Dealing with multiple regional and national vendors with varying levels of business acumen can be problematic. Correcting errors in regional content or making changes is also problematic, due to the same reason the content can be so compelling it can be inherently subjective. Both Parkapedia and US Trailmaps are focused on their specific content and ensuring its current and correct.
ABOUT PARKAPEDIA: California-based Parkapedia is digitally, manually aggregating parking lot and garage data (addresses, entrance points, and attribution) in the United States. Parkapedia currently has field collected and aggregated parking data for 12 of the largest US cities. By the end of 2008, Parkapedia will control the largest and most accurate detailed parking database. Parkapedia is licensing this database, fueling device/application differentiation via real impact to End-Users. The integrated parking database will increase end-user satisfaction, device or application utility, and provide a real benefit. For more information, please visit www.Parkapedia.com.
