Gothenburg, Sweden. 2008-06-18: Austrian "Auto Touring" magazine, a
part of the Automobile Club Austria (ÖAMTC), has awarded Herold
Wisepilot von A1 with Best mobile navigation product on the Austria
market. WISEPILOT® is provided by Appello Systems, one of Europes
leading mobile navigation providers.
"We are naturally very pleased with the result and it gives us credibility and confidence to be recognized as the provider of the best mobile navigation experience in Austria, winning over all other major navigation products.", says Martin Svensson, CEO of Appello. "It proves that our product is appreciated and that our all-inclusive offer is what consumers today expects from a mobile navigation solution", continues Martin Svensson.
In one of the first extensive comparison tests between five different mobile navigation solutions Appellos Wisepilot came out as the winner against competitors and recognised brands like Garmin, Nokia and Wayfinder. The test was made by the Austrian "Auto Touring" magazine a group within the Automobile Club of Austria ÖAMTC. Austria has had mobile navigation solutions readily available on the market for more than 3 years and is considered to be one of the leading European markets. The Austrian market is also often a pioneer and test bed for introductions of new mobile technologies, like commercial availability of GPRS, UMTS, HSDPA and VOIP on mobile terminals. Experiences in the Austrian market have been used several times before to show coming major trends in Europe. The test by Automobile Club was conducted with a pure consumer experience focus on handset Blackberry 8800, Nokia N95 and Samsung i780.
Herold Wisepilot von A1 was recognised as the overall best solution and winner based on its ease of use and all-inclusive functionality, offering for example; full integration of Herold yellow and white pages directories, premium gourmet guides from Á la carte, the fast delivery of traffic information messages from ASFINAG and active speed camera warnings. On top of all this there is also a unique integration together with Mobilkom A1 of emergency services, enabling customers via a simple push on a button to get road side assistance.
AUTO TOURING sees mobile navigation with Wisepilot as highly recommended and already ahead of built-in and portable dedicated navigation solutions like TomTom Go and Garmin Nüvi. The advantages are fresh and always updated maps, easy activation and upgrading through the full integration to the systems of telecom operator Mobilkom A1 and a very attractive end-consumer price of just 6 per month (incl. VAT) for all included functions and the data download costs. It can be foreseen that this offer and trend will be highly successful in other markets in Europe.
