Strategic partnership to provide real-time travel advisories to mobile devices
Madison, WI & Berkley, CA: June 17, 2008 Apisphere, a leading
provider of location-awareness services for mobile business
applications, today has partnered with TrafficCast International, a
pioneer in traffic data analysis and personalized travel advisories, to
develop products and services that will add traffic congestion and
travel time forecasts to mobile navigation and routing solutions.
The strategic partnership combines Apispheres expertise in bringing location-awareness information to mobile devices with TrafficCasts experience utilizing traffic science to provide the most accurate traffic data aggregation and analysis. Together the companies will develop a series of solutions to allow users to access traffic information on their mobile devices so they can plan for accurate arrival times or change travel routes while in transit.
With this partnership, people will no longer need to rely on expensive in-car assistant programs for real-time traffic updates and route recommendations, said Connie Li, president and CEO of TrafficCast International. With Apispheres understanding of the demanding requirements of delivering dynamic data and TrafficCasts commitment to providing actionable traffic information, together we are providing the best solutions to help mobile users navigate their routes.
The partnership will leverage Apispheres Geo-Enabled Mobility (GEM) platform which delivers mobile content, including applications and messaging triggered to launch when users enter specified locations. This will be combined with TrafficCasts proprietary traffic science to adapt available information to the parameters of particular distribution channels. TrafficCast currently collects real-time information from more than 350 data sources including incidents, speed, construction and weather to produce real-time and forecast travel information for clients.
"Traffic updates and travel time forecasts are crucial information for commuters and companies who rely on mobile teams, said Craig Harper, CEO of Apisphere. Delivering this information in real-time to multiple users across the country requires precise underlying data analysis and an effective delivery platform which this partnership will uniquely provide.
