Wireless Matrix Partner with deCarta to Increase Mapping Capabilities for Mobile Resource Management
Written by deCarta
Tuesday, 06 May 2008
RESTON, VA - May 5, 2008 Wireless Matrix Corporation (TSX: WRX), a
leader in mobile resource management (MRM), today announced it has
partnered with deCarta, the leading provider of advanced and
comprehensive geospatial software platforms, to increase its mapping
capabilities within FleetOutlook®, Wireless Matrix's flagship web
application.
Delivered as a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), FleetOutlook provides management and fleet operators 360-degree visibility into their operations via comprehensive reporting, exception-based alerts, nearest vehicle search, an interactive mapping interface and an open platform that allows seamless integration to third-party applications.
The upgrade of FleetOutlook to deCarta's Drill Down Server® geospatial platform, delivers optimized Mobile Resource Management mapping functions for higher end-user efficiency including:
* Enhanced Mapping: Improved labeling of map features such as states, cities and roads. A wider range of colors and shades highlight topographies and terrain.
* Improved Addressing: Greater precision in locating and displaying address information helps managers more accurately pinpoint a technician's location.
* Added Public Landmarks: Determine the location of a technician in relation to public landmarks.
"deCarta's platform provides the high level of detail and features that our MRM customers require," explained Adam Wegel, senior director of product management, Wireless Matrix. "Unlike consumer-grade mapping applications, deCarta's Drill Down Server platform uniquely allows precise control and configuration of the low-level APIs (application programming interface) which allowed us to optimize the look and feel of our maps for our enterprise users. The deCarta platform also easily scales to serve our rapidly expanding subscriber base, reducing our operational costs and providing an excellent end-user experience."
"Higher productivity and fuel cost-reduction initiatives are driving enterprise demand for more precise mobile resource management tools," said J. Kim Fennell, president and CEO of deCarta. "We're proud to be working closely with Wireless Matrix and providing the technology to further enhance the utility and efficiency of FleetOutlook for their customers."
The enhanced mapping functionality is immediately available to Wireless Matrix's 62,000 subscribers and new users via the FleetOutlook link on the Wireless Matrix homepage, www.wrx-us.com.
