Companies to provide standardized-compliant solutions to original equipment manufacturers
Dallas, Texas, April 22, 2008 - Quickoffice, Inc., the leading global provider of mobile office productivity software and services, today announced Esmertec (SWX:ESMN), a leading-edge provider of software platforms, applications and services to communications device manufacturers and mobile telecom operators, has become a value-added reseller (VAR). The companies will collaborate by integrating the Quickoffice Scalable Vector Graphics Tiny (SVGT) Platform with Esmertec's leading Jbed(tm) Virtual Machine (MVM). Jbed provides original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) with a comprehensive and extensive Java solution.
As a primary VAR of Quickoffice's BitFlash Mobile SVGT Platform and the Java Specification Request (JSR) 226 application programming interface (API), Esmertec can offer its OEM customers a pre-integrated, optimized JSR 226 solution to meet the next-generation Mobile Service Architecture (MSA) standard. The MSA is a standardized set of mobile JSRs to help reduce fragmentation and improve implementation quality of applications created by developers.
"The demand for customized handsets and improved user experience continues to increase," said Nico Finke, head of product management at Esmertec. "This partnership allows us to deliver high-quality 2D-graphics technology to our customers. We look forward to providing Quickoffice's products and continue our commitment to being the best in the industry."
Quickoffice's BitFlash technology provides an excellent environment for creating and distributing high-quality multimedia of all types - from infotainment and office documents, to custom UI design and wireless applications. The SVGT Platform allows OEMs and mobile platform vendors to meet operator requirements including a SVG Tiny 1.2 implementation and mobile Java specifications JSR 226 and JSR 287.
"Our relationship with Esmertec allows us bring superior technology solutions to OEMs," said Gregg Fiddes, vice president of sales and strategic partnerships, Quickoffice. "Esmertec is a worldwide leader, known for its high-quality performance of the Jbed Java Virtual machine. Working closely with Esmertec, we're able to provide customers with a highly optimized JSR 226 API and SVGT-player implementation."
