NAVTEQ and Anthem Motorsports Help Racing Fans Navigate Tracks, On-site Activities with New Custom Online Maps on RacingOne.com
Chicago, April 2, 2008 NAVTEQ Corporation (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, announced today that it has worked with RacingOne Multimedia, Inc. and Anthem Motorsports, Inc. to use its Map Network custom, online maps to help connect auto racing fans and businesses in new and dynamic ways. With well over 100,000 people attending many races, fans know how difficult it can be to find hospitality suites, parking lots, credential booths and other at-track activities. Now, via RacingOne.com, attendees can better plan their race day activities with richly detailed maps of racing facilities provided by NAVTEQs Map Network.
Track owners can customize online maps for each race event utilizing NAVTEQs proprietary content management system, providing race-specific information to fans and visitors up to one week in advance. Conversely, the robust Map Network platform helps showcase on-site and nearby businesses to race attendees, driving awareness and potential commerce.
NASCAR fans are the most devoted of any sport in fact, lots of fans drive more than six hours to attend a NASCAR race, said Brian Weaver from Anthem Motorsports. The richly detailed maps of each race course help fans find their seats, visit their favorite racers areas and locate services. Weaver added, NAVTEQs Map Network products enabled us to provide the level of detail we wanted to make race day a great experience for racing fans and personnel.
RacingOne has become one of the premier motor sports news brands by consistently providing detailed and accurate information for racings most loyal fans, said Tom Pokorny, President of RacingOne Multimedia, Inc. The tools provided by Anthem and NAVTEQ will help keep RacingOne.com a leading resource for race fans everywhere.
This is another step in a new frontier for NAVTEQ, as we further expand the scope and depth of the locations we map, offered Shane Green, Vice President of NAVTEQ. Our Map Network maps and content management platform enable our customers to create and manage customized maps for races or events. In addition, our Map Network maps present powerful marketing opportunities for many businesses and venues, helping them showcase their brands and their unique offerings.
