Maps in Apps is part of the Tele Atlas LBS Innovators Series, an ongoing program held in conjunction with Tele Atlas DeveloperLinkSM to help foster innovation and enable application developers to increase their visibility, credibility and success with key participants in the industry including investors, carriers and technology providers. Tele Atlas invites developers of both Web and mobile location-based applications to participate in the 2008 contest.
As consumer and business developers increasingly build map data into their mobile and internet applications, users are discovering the convenience of location-awareness as they search, find and navigate, said Darren Koenig, director of wireless, internet and telecom markets for Tele Atlas. Through Maps in Apps, Tele Atlas is promoting innovation in location-based services by supporting developers as they create diverse Web and mobile software leveraging digital map data and related content.
The Maps in Apps contest was created to help spur the growth of consumer and business applications that utilize mapping or location to enhance functionality, and past finalists in Tele Atlas LBS Innovators Series programs have leveraged their success to launch commercial location-based solutions.
