Garmin Mobile Now Compatible with BREWLAS VEGAS, March 31 -- Garmin International Inc., a unit of Garmin Ltd.
(NASDAQ:GRMN) , the global leader in satellite navigation, and nTelos
Wireless, a leading provider of wireless voice and data services,
announced today that nTelos customers can now begin navigating with
Garmin Mobile.
This announcement also marks Garmin Mobile compatibility with BREW enabled devices. Garmin will display Garmin Mobile on an nTelos handset at its CTIA Wireless trade show booth (#6639) in Las Vegas, Nevada, April 1-3, 2008.
"This is an important win for Garmin and we are particularly excited about it because it's our first placement of Garmin Mobile for BREW," said Charles Morse, Garmin's director of mobile and online marketing. "Garmin Mobile is designed to be intuitive and will give nTelos customers the tools they need to navigate their day with ease."
"Customers want to talk, text, browse the web, listen to music and more. Now nTelos customers have access to the leader in satellite navigation with Garmin Mobile," said Rob Cale VP of Wireless Marketing at nTelos. "We are committed to providing state of the art service and features while always providing the best value in wireless."
Garmin Mobile is based on Garmin's popular stand-alone automotive GPS devices, and gives customers premium navigation features on their phone. Garmin Mobile is a subscription-based, feature-rich application that delivers maps, directions and turn-by-turn navigation on mobile phones. It includes highly detailed street maps of the entire United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The database features over six million points of interest, including hotels, restaurants, gas stations, ATMs, attractions and more. Garmin Mobile's "find along route" feature makes it easy to find alternate destinations along the current route. For additional customization and route optimization, users can select how they are traveling -- car, bicycle or foot -- and Garmin Mobile will calculate the most efficient route based upon the mode of transportation. Map data is provided by NAVTEQ(TM) -- a world leader in premium-quality mapping. Garmin Mobile maps are server-based and give consumers the most recent mapping available.
In addition to navigation, Garmin Mobile includes free access to constantly updating information like real-time traffic, fuel prices, hotel prices and discounts, and weather forecasts. The real-time traffic service identifies accidents, road construction or other incidents affecting traffic, and navigates users around the congestion. Thanks to the fuel price information, nTelos customers can navigate to the filling station of their choice based on the filling station's name, fuel price, type of fuel, or distance to the station. Hotel information features hotel ratings and discounts. Real-time weather information lets users see weather conditions and forecast at their current location or anywhere in the world.
Garmin Mobile is available on a number of nTelos handsets and customers can download the application to their phone from the nTelos Brew Shop for $9.99 per month. For more information, visit http://www.garmin.com/mobilephones or http://www.ntelos.com/
