Bamboo MediaCasting Offers Carriers, Consumers Efficient Bandwidth Usage, No More Waiting for Mobile Media
Introducing SilverStripe -- Scaleable Carrier/Service Provider Solution Automatically Delivers, Stores Subscription Content on Mobile Phones
CTIA Wireless 2008
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bamboo MediaCasting, Inc., the leading provider of scheduled, push delivery of subscription content to mobile customers, today will unveil its SilverStripe white label solution to U.S. mobile carriers and service providers. The company will appear at ShowStoppers@CTIA Wireless 2008, at Wynn Las Vegas this evening, and at CTIA this week.
Bamboo MediaCasting's SilverStripe solution enables carriers, service providers and off-deck portals to offer a channel-based subscription service using its proprietary Push-Store-PlayTM technology. The SilverStripe solution automatically delivers subscriber-selected episodic audio, video, news, movie trailers, music and other programming to the users handset, where it is stored in the phones memory. SilverStripe provides mobile users a crystal-clear audio and video experience with no disruptions from streaming, downloading or WAP.
In addition, Bamboo MediaCasting today released a new survey of US consumers indicating widespread concern with matters like image quality, bandwidth limitations and the overall consumer experience. In the Bamboo/Synovate study of 1,000 consumers, nearly half of respondents say they anticipate having issues with mobile media image quality, loading speed, complexity and content choices. Fully 51 percent of total respondents expect that mobile video subscriptions will be too expensive.
Addressing Quality and Reliability
SilverStripe eliminates a major barrier to carrier and user satisfaction with mobile video quality and reliability. Consumers benefit from the Push-Store-Play approach because they no longer have to browse for content and wait for it to load. With SilverStripe, content is delivered automatically; all they have to do is click and watch. No more waiting for content to load or frustrating service interruptions because of network bandwidth overload or other issues that accompany other methods of delivering programming to mobile phones.
With Bamboo MediaCasting, the wait is over for carriers and service providers weary of bandwidth problems and other barriers to delivering high-quality rich-media content and for consumers, who finally can watch while they are waiting rather than wait while they are watching, said Guy Morag, CEO of Bamboo MediaCasting, Inc. Whether its Lettermans Top 10, mobilisodes from The Office, your favorite Podcast or the latest movie trailers, Bamboo MediaCasting delivers video and audio content that subscribers want for uninterrupted play when they want it. Its like DVR for your phone. Bamboo MediaCasting is causing carriers, service providers and consumers to re-think and expand their expectations of mobile programming delivery and quality.
Carriers also benefit because SilverStripe uses existing mobile networks and facilitates off-peak delivery to minimize network congestion, data costs, and disruption to traditional phone usage. The channel-based subscription model allows subscribers to select the content they desire and then enjoy the full-track media on their mobile phones without browsing or establishing a network connection. Users are notified when new material arrives and has been stored. With one click, the rich-media can be played anytime, anywhere even outside a phone subscribers service area.
Advertisers benefit from the SilverStripe solution because it enables them to deliver crystal-clear-quality ads with economical frequency to a highly targeted audience. In a European test, each Bamboo MediaCasting SilverStripe-delivered ad was viewed an average of 1.5 times. Advertisers also can increase the amount of time a consumer spends with their brand through coupons or other special offers pushed directly to the phone, where subscribers can decide whether to open and view the content.
The Bamboo MediaCasting SilverStripe solution has been deployed in France and soon will be available in England through a Tier 1 carrier and in Southeast Asia through other carriers. In addition, the company is currently in talks with a major Tier 1 U.S. carrier. Bamboo MediaCasting currently supports, Symbian, Java and Windows Mobile phones. The company expects to add RIM and iPhone support in the near future.
