GPSContent.com seeks to match prequalified content datasets with the right OEMs and applications, for maximum mutual benefit

(Boston, MA) March 28, 2008 – Location Based Strategy, a LBS consulting firm, today announced the launch of a new initiative designed to match prequalified content datasets with OEMs and application developers seeking to differentiate their offerings via content-fueled functionality. GPSContent.com will serve as a B2B “content depot”, positioning and promoting unique LBS content.

There is a “virtual sea” of content available to drive differentiating functionality, but much of it is regional, disjointed, and in a variety of formats. Attribution is often not uniform and content is often optimized for traditional (print) media and not linked to specific point locations. Additionally, many content owners are unaware of the growing potential of LBS and/or lack the bandwidth for business discussions or legal negotiations.

OEMs are often unable to devote sufficient resources to researching the dizzying array of content potentially available. Dealing with multiple regional and national vendors with varying levels of business acumen can be problematic. Correcting errors in regional content or making changes is also problematic, due to the same reason the content can be so compelling –it can be inherently subjective.

After conducting confidential needs assessments with OEMs and application developers, GPSContent.com seeks out and prequalifies content, to fill a specific strategic need. Likewise, GPSContent.com promotes and positions content to just the right application, platform, or device, if the content can be prequalified as both viable regarding monetisation and technically uniform and sound, allowing rapid deployment.

“Content has the ability to fuel differentiating functionality, but the sheer breadth of content out there and the lack of a standardized format makes research and subsequent acquisition a challenge,” said Wilson Kerr, Founder of Location Based Strategy.  “GPSContent.com seeks to be a one-stop-shop “content depot”, pairing up content owners with device manufacturers and application developers.”

 ABOUT GPSCONTENT.COM:
GPSContent.com is the “content depot” that will serve to bring OEMs and applications developers the best, prequalified, topic-specific content available. Password-protected “baskets” of content descriptions and specs will be served to OEMs and application developers, based on their specific, stated needs. Likewise, GPSContent.com will serve to expose prequalified content owners to decision-makers at top-tier OEMs and applications developers, in order to expose their offering and speed and streamline the licensing process. GPSContent is a B2B site and will not have a retail or consumer facing element. Participation and inclusion in GPSContent.com is offered free of charge for content owners, OEMs, and application developers. For more information, please visit www.GPSContent.com.

Location Based Strategy is the “parent entity” of GPSContent.com. Location Based Strategy is a consulting company offering an innovative, energetic approach to business development consulting that incorporates current, rapidly evolving market conditions and an extensive working knowledge of both LBS branding/advertising and navigation-related third party content positioning and licensing.
