San Jose, CA March 26, 2008 -- Zoospi.com, with its unique mobile phone application, Zoospi Mobile (ZooM), has been selected as one of 15 semifinalists in the 2008 NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge. The grand prize winners and runners-up will be announced at CTIA Wireless 2008 in Las Vegas on April 2, 2008.
The Global LBS Challenge invites developers to build innovative location-enabled applications that work with mobile phones and/or wireless handheld devices using dynamic positioning technology and NAVTEQ® map data. Participants compete for a global prize pool of cash, licenses and services from NAVTEQ and sponsors of the event.
"As location-based applications continue to evolve in their sophistication and innovation, so does the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge," commented Marc Naddell, vice president, partner and developer programs, NAVTEQ. "This year's contestants comprised a group of talented and originative developers, and NAVTEQ congratulates Zoospi.com on being a semifinalist in the 2008 Global LBS Challenge - Americas."
Zoospi.com is the first fully interactive web-based LBS tool that uses an individualized Spatial Calendar (SM) and a public Spatial Search Engine (SM) to connect people with the on-site services they need, when they need them. It offers a real-time map of mobile service professionals on location and provides instant booking capabilities between businesses and customers.
Zoospi, Inc. president Chuck Jamshidi says, "We are excited to be a 2008 NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge semifinalist. Zoospi.com is a culmination of two years of development and was designed after studying what the well-financed service businesses do to get jobs, dispatch crews, create efficient routes, manage their assets in the field, and match the skills of each member of their crew to their customers' requirements. With Zoospi, we are providing the same toolset to all service professionals. This way, each independent service provider can work as efficiently as possible, get localized jobs, minimize drive time and maximize cash flow."
Zoospi Mobile (ZooM) puts the features of Zoospi.com in the palm of the hands of service professionals. It tracks their location, receives and responds to their booking requests and enables them to invoice their customers on the fly. It also provides detailed maps and directions to job sites.
Further expanding on its versatility, ZooM will soon be available as an application on WHERE, a service of uLocate Communications, providing a single point of access to the world's most comprehensive library of location-based content.
