What is Open After 10PM - GeoSpot Upgrades the Public Beta of Its Deep Local Search and Exploration Web Site
FREMONT, Calif., March 26 -- GeoSpot Inc.,
http://www.GeoSpot.com, the location-based services and social activities
company today announced a major upgrade of its Beta Web site for consumers
to conduct deep local searches. Upgrades include an expanded search of
local businesses and services by open hours ("what is open now"), searching
nearby, and patent-pending location-aware keyword correction. Consumers can
search for places that are open now or at a specific time and even see
whether the businesses are about to open or are closing soon.
The data covers all of California, but the Beta Web site focuses on
restaurants, bars, and other food-related categories in the San Francisco
Bay Area, where it has the most searchable operating hours. GeoSpot
services make local searches map-centric, moving the user interactions onto
the map itself.
"Have you ever wanted a nice sit-down meal or just a quick bite to eat
after 10PM at night but had no clue which restaurant is still open and
where?" asked GeoSpot CEO, Joe Chen. "How many times each week do we all
ask the question what is open around here or in the area where I am going?"
Although several local search services already exist, analysts have
unanimously said that consumers are not satisfied with the results.
"We want to solve the pain that consumers feel which existing search
engines do not address. The first of such features is to do a sweeping
search of a geographical area and tell the users what's open," said Peter
Braun, GeoSpot's Vice President of Product Management. "For many
multi-service businesses, users can even find out if a certain department
is open or a service available, and what similar services nearby are also
available and open!"
GeoSpot's patent-pending high-performance search of local businesses by
operating hours is the first of many pain-solving location-based solutions
GeoSpot will release this year. Other "killer-applications" are currently
in alpha testing.
