New Component of Information Anywhere Suite Provides All-In-One Wireless Email, Security and Business Process Mobilization
DUBLIN, CALIF. MARCH 3, 2008 Sybase iAnywhere today launched iAnywhere® Mobile Office, a new component of the Sybase® Information Anywhere® Suite, designed to meet the industrys evolving requirements for a mobile inbox of the future. Combining fully integrated wireless email, PIM, security and business process mobilization, iAnywhere Mobile Office enables organizations to better manage critical, time-sensitive workflow business processes, such as approving purchase orders or submitting reports, all through a single, secure mobile email client.
Sybase iAnywhere is excited that we're bringing together three best of class components into iAnywhere Mobile Officewireless email, security and business process enablement. Wireless email is by far the most popular application for mobile information workers, so extending the function of the users email inbox to facilitate additional mobile applications and business processes is a logical next step, said Mark Willnerd, vice president, Sybase iAnywhere. With iAnywhere Mobile Office, were helping organizations to redefine their workflow to take advantage of the familiarity and pervasiveness of wireless emailthats what we call the inbox of the future.
iAnywhere Mobile Office offers three key integrated features that provide the foundation for a companys mobile inbox of the future:
1. Wireless Email iAnywhere Mobile Office extends corporate email to a wide range of devices including Windows Mobile and Symbian. This latest version of wireless email technology, powered by the OneBridge® component of Information Anywhere Suite, provides major benefits including:
* Improved usability The latest version offers greatly enhanced speed of email delivery, provides improved battery life and offers easier self provisioning.
* Simplified administration Eases management of the server infrastructure and improves device client deployment updates and configuration of user policies.
* Lower cost of ownership Minimizes wireless air time requirements through optimized protocols and restricting HTML email content. In addition, the new iAnywhere Mobile Office architecture reduces the number of servers required for an enterprise deployment.
2. Security iAnywhere Mobile Office provides fully integrated client security, powered by the Afaria® component of Information Anywhere Suite, including on-device password enforcement, data encryption, and device lock-down capabilities to secure data if a device is lost or stolen. This seamless integration with email and applications provides IT organizations with a major advantage by ensuring compatibility across technologies, and simplifying administration. Companies requiring central management of security and advanced deployment options can upgrade to the full Afaria management and security component of the Information Anywhere Suite.
3. Business Process Mobilization Using proven Sybase iAnywhere application enablement capabilities, iAnywhere Mobile Office provides a simplified email-driven approach to enabling business and workflow processes on mobile devices. Users can take action from mobile devices to complete business processes, such as approval of expense reports, human resources requisitions and purchase orders, or notifications from CRM activities and notifications. iAnywhere Mobile Office leverages a Web Services interface for seamless server integration and speeds development with business process widgets reducing the cost and effort necessary to develop and deploy simple applications.
Mobile devices are rapidly increasing their role in the enterprise, as users who spend more time on the road than ever become increasingly reliant on portable devices, says Jack Gold, president of J.Gold Associates. However, although there is a preponderance of mobile email deployed, there is a real need for a simple means to enable wider use of back office applications, for example, CRM, SFA and ERP, in a safe and secure manner. Products such as iAnywhere Mobile Office can provide users with improved efficiency through application access in a secure and cost effective manner, as a logical extension to email.
