OXNARD, Calif.-- CalAmp Corp. (NASDAQ:CAMP), a leading
provider of wireless products, services and solutions, today announced
the release of its Dataradio CiPHR IP Router/Radio Modem, a new rugged
wireless communications and networking platform for public safety data
applications over cellular networks.
Leveraging more than 20 years of experience with wireless data networks for public safety applications, CalAmps latest product addresses the needs of first responders requiring a data communications and networking device that provides reliable service even in challenging operating environments. The Dataradio CiPHR uses the industry standard TCP/IP communication protocol and is compatible with most leading public safety specific software applications such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Record Management Systems (RMS). CiPHR has been developed to support multi-network data routing, thereby enabling interoperability between Dataradio wide area systems as well as fixed broadband infrastructure.
The Dataradio CiPHR is the most advanced communications platform for public safety cellular communications today, designed specifically with the needs of our customers in mind, said Michael Burdiek, President of CalAmps Wireless DataCom Division. It is the result of years of experience in the public safety data communications marketplace and represents a significant step towards our triple play strategy to provide licensed narrowband, license free broadband and public network interoperable data connectivity for first responder applications.
The Dataradio CiPHR is a flexible, intelligent and full-featured mobile data communications platform with Ethernet, USB and serial interfaces. It offers advanced configuration options for application specific communication interfaces such as multiple analog/digital input-output ports and local wireless connectivity over Wi-Fi or Zigbee. An integrated GPS receiver provides support for route planning as well as automatic vehicle location (AVL) or tracking applications. The platform is designed for 3G networks such as CDMA 2000 1xEV-DO Revision A or GSM High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) networks. Its backward compatibility to corresponding 2G wireless technologies automatically connects to the best network and highest data speed available and is therefore ideally suited for a broad set of mobile, portable or fixed wireless applications. It showcases the familiar rugged Dataradio packaging, designed to sustain extended temperature range and harsh environmental conditions. Tried and tested mounting and easy installation allows for simple integration of the CiPHR with new or existing Dataradio deployments.
