Presentation to be held on March 4 at the Motor Fuel Tax Evasion Research & Technology Forum
Rockville, MD. -- February 27, 2008 -- Hi-G-Tek (www.higtek.com), a leading provider of RFID sensing and control solutions for high-value cargo and sensitive materials, today announced that Erik Wood, Vice President of Business Development, will speak at the Motor Fuel Tax Evasion Research and Technology Forum, an educational event sponsored by the Office of Transportation Studies of the Federal Highway Administration. The forum will focus on the evolving strategies, future needs and potential solutions for monitoring and enforcing fuel tax regulations. Wood's presentation, "Technology Enhancements to Secure and Monitor the Downstream Fuel Supply Chain," will take place on Tuesday, March 4 between 10:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
The Motor Fuel Tax Evasion Research and Technology Forum, held in Dallas from March 4 - 5, will provide attendees with information about various techniques and technologies to effectively address motor fuel tax evasion. In addition, the forum's content will be used in preparation for a training course to inform fuel tax revenue collection personnel on emerging evasion schemes.
Wood's presentation will focus on the recent advances in wireless and sensing technology to control access to fuel stores on trucks, rail wagons and underground tanks at retail stations. In addition, it will discuss how technological advances are providing real-time business information for operational decision makers throughout the supply chain.
"In today's global economy, the ability to track the location and condition of cargo at any point in the world is extremely important," said Wood. "We are at a time when technology is enabling more real-time information than ever imagined, and these advances have the potential to provide businesses and government agencies with the knowledge to stay one step ahead of the latest tax evasion schemes."
