LIVERMORE, CA -- The new, full-featured, alphanumeric, value-priced
field controller the Topcon FC-2200 was unveiled recently by Topcon
Positioning Systems (TPS).
With a full keyboard, color, sunlight readable, touchscreen, built-in wireless connectivity for cable-free operation (Bluetooth and WiFi), 5 megapixel camera, and special bar code scanner, the FC-2200 is the most powerful alphanumeric controller on the market today. Main features include Windows CE-based architecture and an optional communication pack for robotic radio control or cellular communication.
Peter Wallace, TPS director of survey sales, said, The FC-2200 is a workhorse controller. The unit comes standard with a rechargeable battery, but can use alkaline batteries as a backup power source, easy-access USB flash drive adapter and 2GB of system flash. It raises the standard for job site controllers.
When in the field, you never know when you will need to take a high-resolution photo. The FC-2200 has a built-in quality, auto-focus camera. To make sure you have enough memory to take such high-quality shots, theres 2Gb of memory the largest by far in the industry that comes standard with the unit.
Wallace said, The screen and program are easily readable due to the large icons which are activated by a tap of the stylus. The icons are easy to understand and the array of functions are easy to learn.
Other features include:
-- Built-in wireless Bluetooth , Wi-Fi and WLAN connectivity;
-- Easily accessible USB flash drive adapter delivers memory expansion;
-- RS-3 radio capable (optional to control GPT-9000A and Topcon IS imaging system);
-- New, fully-sealed, field-tested, rugged design.
The FC-2200 data collector comes in two physical configurations standard or radio-ready. In the latter model, the unit comes with an adapter on the back that can hold a robotic radio or other optional packs. The robotic radio can be ordered separately or part of a kit.
Additionally, the FC-2200 has eight optional TopSURV 7 modules from which to choose: Standard TopSURV 7, contractors version, Pro software, Robotics, Pro Robotics, GPS+, Pro GPS+, and an all-encompassing version the TopSURV 7 Complete.
With the introduction of the FC-2200, Topcon brings to the market a product that makes job site chores a little easier. The FC-2200 is the next generation of products that opens up the world of simplicity, accuracy, and precision to every customer, Wallace said.
