Developers Can Now Register Until March 7, 2008
Chicago, IL- February 19, 2008 NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions (LBS), has announced that the registration deadline for the Global LBS Challenge APAC (Asia-Pacific) has been extended from February 29, 2008 to March 7, 2008.
The annual Global LBS Challenge invites developers to build location-enabled applications that work with mobile phones and/or wireless handheld devices using dynamic positioning technology and NAVTEQ® map data. Participants compete for a global prize pool of cash, licenses and services from NAVTEQ and sponsors of the event, with this years prize pool the largest to date, valued at nearly $3 million US.
Developers are offered five categories in which to submit their applications: Content, Enterprise, Entertainment, Navigation and Social Networking. Contestants are judged by an elite panel of judges comprised of major wireless carriers, industry experts and venture capitalists.
One Grand Prize Winner and three Runners-up will be announced at the Global LBS Challenge Awards Ceremony during CommunicAsia in Singapore on June 18, 2008. All CommunicAsia attendees are invited to attend.
The Global LBS Challenge has expanded to three regions: EMEA, Americas and APAC. Developers who missed the registration deadlines for EMEA and Americas may still register for the APAC region by March 7, 2008.
