Acision Launches Location-Based Charging With Seeker Wireless PDF Print E-mail

BARCELONA, February 13 -- Mobile Operators Worldwide can now Offer Highly Accurate Zone-Based Charging to Rival the Fixed Network

Acision, the messaging and charging company of choice for over 300 network operators and service providers worldwide, today announced that it is working with zone detection technology provider Seeker Wireless for the provision of location-based charging. With its expertise in rating and charging, Acision will initially launch "HomeZone" to enable operators to offer differentiated charging for mobile users at home.

HomeZone enables cost effective, highly accurate and reliable zone-based charging, allowing mobile operators to attack the fixed line telephony market with competitive tariffs while protecting existing revenue streams. With HomeZone any service, including voice and data, can be rated at a different tariff.

Acision's HomeZone supports an operator's existing handset choice by using a SIM-based applet to ensure the accurate identification of the user's charging location. The zone status is communicated to both the service provider and the user, enabling them to use the service with confidence.

Simon Dallyn, Senior Vice President of Charging at Acision commented, "Location-based charging represents a substantial opportunity for operators looking to secure fixed line market share without worrying about inaccurate zoning cannibalising revenue. We chose to work with Seeker Wireless because their revolutionary zone detection technology delivers the most accurate, reliable and economical zoning solution in the market. We have already seen strong interest in the service and expect zone charging to feature strongly in service providers' toolsets in 2008."

About Seeker Wireless

Seeker Wireless developed the world's leading zone detection technology, which is being used to deliver the most advanced Fixed Mobile Substitution (FMS) solution in the market. SeekerZone(TM) is the first handset location system specifically created for zone detection, delivering zone status alerts for applications such as zone-based charging. With the innovative approach of SeekerZone(TM) mobile operators can achieve zone sizes up to 50 times smaller than cell-ID zones while ensuring the highest levels of in-zone reliability. This enables operators to reduce cannibalisation of revenues by up to 90% compared to Cell-ID.

Developed by pioneers of the cellular location industry, Seeker Wireless's patent pending technology is designed to deliver the smallest zones at the lowest cost, as well as provide a future pathway to deliver additional services based on subscriber location.

Seeker Wireless has delivered advanced commercial FMS solutions to leading mobile operators in EMEA and Asia Pacific and also works in strategic partnership with global technology and service providers including HP and Acision. For more information visit http://www.seekerwireless.com.
