Popular mobile travel application now supports on-device itinerary editing and direct travel agent integration
Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain (February 11, 2008) - WorldMate, Inc, the leading provider of mobile travel services for the road warrior and frequent flier, announced several upgrades of its WorldMate Live service, the award-winning travel tool for BlackBerry(r) smartphones. The WorldMate Live service caters to jet-setters, managing their complete itineraries, including travel arrangements and business meetings, ensuring trips are as smooth as possible by pushing real-time notifications of events which impact their schedules.
The recent upgrade enables travelers to change their itineraries directly on their devices, adding or updating meetings, flights and hotels. In addition, WorldMate Live members can now verify that all the addresses in their itineraries are correct and view them on a map. The list of supported travel providers tops 100 including Amadeus, American Express, BCD, Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Expedia, Orbitz, Travelocity and most major airlines, hotel chains and car rental agencies.
Another new feature empowers travel providers to update their client's itineraries directly on their devices in WorldMate Live, over-the-air by forwarding confirmation emails to the WorldMate Live system. This keeps travelers' itineraries in sync with bookings made by agents, even while they are on the move. In addition, the WorldMate Live Outlook add-in has been upgraded to support Microsoft Outlook 2007.
"This new revision honors the requests made by our first generation of WorldMate Live members," said Nadav Gur, CEO of WorldMate. "Since their itineraries change frequently even after they've embarked on the trip, we have freed the user from being dependent on Outlook and allow real-time updates for itineraries, even while travelers are on the road and away from their PCs."
WorldMate Live is offered as a 'Freemium' service, with most components and services provided to end users for free. Premium services, including flight alerts, flight status and schedules, travel directory and customer support are, available via subscription at $9.95 per month or $99.95 per year.
