Chicago, IL- February 5, 2008 - NAVTEQ, a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions (LBS), will broadcast the NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge - EMEA Awards Ceremony live during Mobile World Congress on the Global LBS Challenge website (www.LBSChallenge.com) on February 12, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. EST (15:00 Barcelona time).
* NAVTEQ will announce one Grand Prize Winner and three Runners-up from a field of twelve semifinalists.
* All Mobile World Congress attendees are invited to attend the awards ceremony, which will be held at Poble Espanyol de Montjuïc, City Hall, Av. Marquès de Comillas, 13, Barcelona.
* The annual Global LBS Challenge invites developers to build location-enabled applications that work with mobile phones and/or wireless handheld devices using dynamic positioning technology and NAVTEQr map data. Participants compete for a global prize pool of cash, licenses and services from NAVTEQ and sponsors of the event, with this year's prize pool the largest to date, valued at nearly $3 million US.
* Developers are offered five categories in which to submit their applications: Content, Enterprise, Entertainment, Navigation and Social Networking. Contestants are judged by an elite panel of judges comprised of major wireless carriers, industry experts and venture capitalists. * The Global LBS Challenge has expanded to three regions: EMEA, Americas and Asia-Pacific (APAC). Developers who missed the registration deadlines for EMEA and Americas may still register for the APAC region, which closes February 29, 2008.
