Another LBSZone Alert has been released... enjoy this edition for the latest developments in LBS...
Hello from the Spatial Media LBSzone...
According to the latest research, GPS in consumer, business, and industrial environments such as telematics and
asset tracking will continue to grow - to the tune of more than 900 million users by 2013... is the future really that
bright? A number of companies are chasing this market... just today Helio launched yet another cool device, the
Mysto. The hot and cool selling feature is GPS! This nifty, convereged, slider boasts 2 GPS aware services (WHERE
and TellMe), MP3 player, loads of memory and much more... nice price point too! Ever wonder where the most
"mobile" cities are? According to WCities (think mobile guide) the most mobile places in the World are New York,
London, and Paris (what... Fort Collins isn't in there??). More bizness news as FindWhere has scooped up 2005 LBS
Challenge winner, LiveContacts. About the app... with FindWhere Mobile, individual cell phone users can share their
location and related media content from their mobile phone with their social network - indeed even more validation
for the LBS Challenge! Finally, at MacWorld this week attendees (and iPhone users) were invited to take part in a mobile treasure hunt sponsored by iPling...
imagine how cool this would be if iPhone was GPS-enabled?? PS: don't forget to also check out our blog... recent posts include details of a prepaid mobile
model via Android, Garmin evangelizing GPS via Super Bowl (again), and the very interesting Nokia Research
sensors project.
