CNET Announces Best of CES Award Winners at 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show

CNET Expert Editors Honor the Philips 42PFL5603D Eco TV with the Best
in Show and the Motorola Rokr E8 with the People's Voice Awards
SAN FRANCISCO- CNET.com (www.cnet.com), where people go to discover the latest in tech and consumer electronics and a property of CNET Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:CNET), today announced the winners of its Best of CES Awards at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas.
The CNET editors, who reviewed hundreds of entries, awarded Philips 42PFL5603D Eco TV (http://ces.cnet.com/8301-13855_1-9843645-67.html) for Best in Show and Motorola Rokr E8 (http://ces.cnet.com/8301-13855_1-9842767-67.html) for the Peoples Voice awards. Ten companies were recognized as having the best products in their respective categories (see full list below).
Tech enthusiasts visited CNET.com to follow the extensive CES coverage provided by the sites expert editors, who scoured the CES show floor to choose from the hundreds of new products and technologies announced at the show. The CNET.com Peoples Voice award, which used an online voting system that was promoted across CNET Networks family of web properties, drew almost a thousand votes from consumers who wanted to see recognition for their favorite product at CES.
Our editors were so impressed with the number of innovative products that were launched at the show, but in the end they awarded the Philips 42PFL5603D Eco TV as the Best in Show, said Jai Singh, editor-in-chief and vice president of CNET. With its power saving features, the Philips 42PFL5603D Eco TV showed us that a TV manufacturer could embrace green tech in a way that benefits the eco-conscious and those who just want to save money.
To qualify, all products had to be exhibited at the 2008 International CES in Las Vegas. CNET expert editors judged products on criteria including:
* Pioneer a new category, establish an emerging category, or take an existing category to a new level.
* Excite people with its style, innovation, usefulness, ease of use, and/or capability to entertain.
* Endow its owners with a certain cachet, the "cool" factor.
* Make its way into everyday life.
