Former SiRF executive to join Telcontar team
San Jose, CA April 19, 2005 - Telcontar, a leading supplier of software and related services for the Location-Based Services (LBS) industry, today announced the appointment of Marc Prioleau as Vice President of Marketing. Mr. Prioleau brings with him over 20 years experience in technology marketing, including ten years in the LBS market. Previously heading up the fast-growing consumer and enterprise markets at SiRF Technology, Mr. Prioleau will now be responsible for leading Telcontars marketing and strategic planning functions to build on the companys market-leading position in the LBS industry.
Telcontar is uniquely positioned to lead the fastest growing segments of the location-based services market, including Internet search, wireless and telematics said J. Kim Fennell, President and CEO of Telcontar. Marc has great experience in these markets and has demonstrated the ability to create and execute winning marketing plans in a fast moving, high growth environment. I am confident we have found a strong addition to our team and look forward to working with Marc.
Mr. Prioleau comes to Telcontar from SiRF Technology (Nasdaq: SIRF), a leading provider of GPS-enabled location technology. Mr. Prioleau was responsible for the consumer and enterprise market segments for SiRF. SiRFs revenue growth and strong market share in those sectors were significant contributors to the companys successful IPO in 2004. Prior to SiRF, he was Vice President of Business Development for Outride, Inc. (acquired by Google in 2001), responsible for commercializing Outrides advanced search technology with leading Internet search engines. Mr. Prioleau also held executive positions at Trimble Navigation where he led marketing for embedded GPS products in the automotive, timing and mobile computing markets. In addition, Mr. Prioleau has held sales and marketing positions at Quantum and Raychem.
