LITTLE ROCK, Ark. & ORLANDO, Fla., January 9, 2008 -- Alltel Wireless, America's largest network, and AAA, North America's foremost motoring and leisure travel organization, today announced AAA Mobile® is now available for download through Alltel's Axcess Shop. The GPS application enables Alltel customers, including both AAA members and non-members, to find AAA Approved® points of interest and other locations as well as quickly access AAA member roadside assistance from their GPS-enabled Alltel phones. To see a demo of AAA Mobile, visit the AAA station in Qualcomm's booth #30320 during CES in Las Vegas through Jan. 10.
The AAA Mobile application, available for $9.99 per month or $2.99 per day, allows subscribers to receive visual and audible directions to destinations in the U.S. by using their Alltel Wireless phones. Additionally, AAA Mobile lets subscribers perform a variety of functions which include:
. Locating AAA Approved points of interest (POIs), including Diamond Rated hotels and restaurants.
. Searching more than 100,000 locations that offer AAA member savings.
. Reviewing detailed AAA descriptions for POIs on their phones.
. Accessing a map showing a destination on the mobile phone screen.
. Adding locations as favorites for quick recall in the future.
AAA Mobile also streamlines access to AAA member roadside assistance service which is helpful for subscribers who have vehicular difficulties and need quick attention. With the press of a single button on their Alltel phones, the members' GPS location is sent to AAA and callers are connected with AAA's renowned roadside assistance.
"Alltel Wireless is focused on bringing our customers more convenience when using their wireless phones," said Scott Moody, director of multimedia content for Alltel Wireless. "Now our customers can access a full-featured travel tool from one of the nation's most respected travel organizations."
"Because the mobile phone is a multi-function device that people use in their daily lives, it's the perfect vehicle to offer AAA's member roadside assistance with GPS and travel information," said Marshall L. Doney, vice president, AAA Automotive. "The AAA Mobile service will provide significant value to Alltel customers on a daily basis."
