Fujitsu to demonstrate state-of-the-art WiMAX solutions at the Mobile World Congress

Langen, Germany, January 4th 2008 - Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) will be exhibiting its WiMAX devices, demonstrating its WiMAX solutions and unveiling its wave2-compliant baseband SoC on Stand J45 in Hall 1, at the 2008 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month.
The Mobile World Congress is one of the biggest mobile technology exhibitions in the world attracting over 50,000 visitors during the four days and uniquely is fully endorsed by the GSM Association.
Fujitsu is one of the founding and board members of the WiMAX Forum and will use the event to showcase its latest generation of state-of-the-art WiMAX Solutions in Silicon.
For the first time in Europe, Fujitsu will show its wave2-compliant baseband SoC (MB86K21) in operation, performing wireless communication between Fujitsu's MIMO-compliant Mobile WiMAX PC card and a Mobile WiMAX base station. This demo includes video streaming transmitted wirelessly. The mobile WiMAX SoC fully complies with IEEE 802.16e-2005, and incorporates highly integrated, scalable1024 FFT OFDMA PHY and full MAC processors; adaptive modulation schemes including 64QAM, 16QAM and QPSK; and an interface for MIMO RF modules, in a small-footprint FBGA package.
Furthermore, Fujitsu will provide an insight into future form factors of mobile WiMAX applications that will become available early in the first half of 2008, as well as System Development Kits for MB86K21, and its PC Card Reference Design Kit – which is available now!
Fujitsu’s Product Roadmap of WiMAX devices will match customers’ needs, and as a leading WiMAX silicon vendor, it has already begun to help customers develop their mobile WiMAX systems, and provide best-in-class support.
Members of Fujitsu’s technical, marketing and sales-support teams from Japan, Europe, China and the US will be available on the stand to answer questions and talk you through the demonstrations.
