Sprint Holds 7th Annual Developer Conference to Provide Tools and Resources for Creating Innovative Products and Services for Sprint Customers

Conference is a Key Initiative in Sprint's Leading Open Application Approach

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-- Dec. 12, 2007--Continuing its leadership in employing an open Internet model, Sprint (NYSE:S) today kicks off its seventh annual Application Developer Conference. The conference has been providing tools for third-party developers to create wireless applications that customers can run on Sprint phones since 2001, when Sprint launched the Wireless Web on its phones. Keynote speakers at this year's conference include Pete Levinsohn, President of Fox Interactive Media, which is the parent company of MySpace, FOXSports.com, Photobucket, IGN Entertainment and a number of other leading Web brands.

"While other carriers are just beginning to talk about open access initiatives, Sprint has a long history of leadership in providing open access to the services customers want on their wireless phones, whether through the Sprint portal or through the open Internet," said Kevin Packingham, vice president of wireless product management for Sprint. "Each year we bring together hundreds of developers so that they have a clear understanding of the most current information on exciting products, including the latest phones and, this year, our upcoming Xohm(SM) products and services. The Application Developer Program is a distinctive Sprint partnership that drives development and innovation at SprintSpeed(TM)."

At the conference, Sprint will unveil new developer resources in its latest Sprint Wireless Toolkit, including:

    * More than 20 free applications that assist developers in building applications that maximize the capabilities of popular Sprint handsets such as the Rumor(TM) by LG(R), UpStage(TM) by Samsung(R), and Motorola Razr V9M.
    * Device emulators for more than 40 different Sprint phones.
    * Ability to write applications optimized for Sprint phones that allow users to run multiple applications at the same time.
    * Debugging of mobile applications on Sprint phones using a serial cable or USB cable connected to the developer's PC.

These are just the latest tools provided by the Sprint Application Developer Program, which offers industry-leading developer support to more than 135,000 registered users. Along with the Sprint Wireless Toolkit, the state of the art Sprint Mobility Integrated Development Environment and the Virtual Developer Lab, make it easy for companies or individuals to create, test and deploy innovative and exciting wireless applications. Many of the applications are made available to customers on the open Internet, outside Sprint's portal and without directly involving Sprint at all.

Additional resources available through the Application Developer Program include handset specifications, online forums for interaction and knowledge sharing, white papers and interactive online training. A monthly newsletter distributed to registered developers highlights key wireless data activity such as handset launches and new mobile development capabilities. For more information, please visit the redesigned Sprint Application Developer Web site at http://developer.sprint.com.

Sprint is committed to offering mobile content and applications to its customers when, where and how they want them:

    * Sprint has employed an open Internet approach since first launching the Wireless Web on its phones in 2001.
    * Through relationships with third parties, dozens of non-Sprint branded applications, games and other digital media operate on our network.
    * Sprint recently joined the Open Handset Alliance, along with more than 30 other participating companies, to support the free and open mobile applications platform named Android.
    * As part of the planned 2008 commercial availability of our next-generation mobile data network, Xohm(SM), Sprint has commitments from ecosystem partners for WiMAX network access on new and innovative devices, including connection cards, internet tablets, ultramobile PCs and other consumer electronic devices.
