Redlands, CaliforniaGeographic information system (GIS) industry
leader ESRI continues to expand its international operations with the
opening of ESRI Asia. The new office will allow ESRI to better support
its regional distributors, partners, and customers.
Comments ESRI president Jack Dangermond, "Our presence in Asia goes back almost 30 years. During that time, we have built a significant network of regional distributors, business partners, and users. The opening of ESRI Asia represents our long-term commitment to the region and our understanding of this unique market and its needs."
Bill Shepherd, the new director of ESRI Asia, has spent much of his 15-year career with ESRI working throughout the region. His new responsibilities include streamlining ESRI's programs to stimulate new business for the company's regional distributors and serving as an initial project consultant for larger accounts. This will provide better solutions, coordination, and support for ESRI's end user community.
Says Shepherd, "We view Asia as a region with tremendous growth potential, particularly for emerging technologies such as Web-based GIS. Our goal in establishing ESRI Asia is to continue to expand the strong support of our distributors in the region and to build strategic alliances with the regional offices of our business partners such as Microsoft, SAP, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, and SAS. We will also be supporting global clients, regional customers operating in multiple countries, and large customers implementing complex GIS solutions. This will allow us to cement our position as the leading GIS provider in Asia."
The ESRI Asia office will open in Singapore in January 2008.
