Conference to Highlight Advances in Application Development Through Use of Telcontar Location-Based Services Platform
SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 10 -- Telcontar, the leading geospatial software platform provider that powers three of the top location-based services (LBS) engines -- Google, Yahoo! and Ask Jeeves -- today announced it will hold its first annual Developers Conference on Monday, September 26, 2005 at SBC Park in San Francisco, California. The event is open to application developers, partners and customers and features two tracks, one to educate those new to location-based services and another focusing on advanced topics for experienced veterans.
Telcontar's Developers Conference will feature a mix of short presentations, panel discussions, in-depth technical topics and forward-looking exposes on the trends in technology and market dynamics for location-based services. It will feature a series of sessions that will provide a crash course on developing LBS applications using Telcontar's powerful new web services API.
Attendees will hear about these topics and learn more about:
-- Maps as the new user experience: using location and proximity to
present information in a new way, making different associations and
correlations to increase effectiveness of search and decision-making
-- Behind the location APIs: demystifying how location is determined in
mobile networks
-- Techniques to integrate new, volatile location-oriented data
-- Improved route guidance and turn-by-turn applications on mobile
telephones
-- What you should know before releasing your application internationally
"We created the Telcontar Developers Conference as a forum for the LBS community to collaborate and demonstrate the advances they're making through the use of Telcontar's software platform," said J. Kim Fennell, president and CEO of Telcontar. "This year's conference will be particularly interesting as location-based services are becoming increasingly strategic and important for portals, wireless applications and consumer services. This level of interaction will help continue to keep key issues and technology at the forefront of discussion. We hope this will be a valuable day for our customers, partners and developers."
