MySpot - a new, Australian developed software application for mobile
phones can direct emergency services to your location at the single
click of a button.
For Immediate Release: MySpot a new evolutionary personal security system for location aware GPS phones. - Proprietary Australian electronic breadcrumbs software developed to target fast growing global GPS mobile phone market.
Leading Australian Global Satellite Tracking, monitoring and surveillance specialist phantomEye, today announced the first release of MySpot - a new personal security tracking system for GPS enabled smartphones which the company plans to market globally.
MySpot is a simple, $AU30 Symbian certified, software download which gives users a unique one click SOS panic button personal satellite security tracking system on GPS Smartphones such as Nokias recently launched new hero phone the 6110 Navigator.
phantomEye Chairman Ken W. Stokes said today that MySpot enabled users to activate what his company engineers call cascading electronic breadcrumbs in emergency situations of extreme duress.
Before MySpot users had to carry a special device to indicate an emergency situation and using conventional mobile phones, call up several numbers, he said.
The new MySpot solution from phantomEye solves all that complexity with a single SOS Panic Button slide and click which can then call up to 20 pre-configured phones, send endless e-mail, SMS, IM and twitter messages (leaving a trail of so called cascading electronic breadcrumbs) - all with the current or last location of the user and all without further action needed on behalf of the sender.
As a backup one phone number is also automatically dialled from the phone and this can be back to base for security operatives, or in the case of teenage children the parents!
MySpot can be downloaded for a free 10 day trial and thereafter activated for limitless use for just $AU30. When installed, the software allows a user to leave behind a personal location trail of electronic breadcrumbs - and notify multiple people by email, SMS, voice call, etc. when in an exceptional duress emergency situation, Mr. Stokes said today
We expect majority of MySpot sales to come from Europe where, for example, there are more than 1 million Nokia 6110 phones in circulation so we believe MySpot will eventually have a very large global market indeed.
The MySpot software can have many configurations, which is what makes it evolutionary and quite different from earlier generation GPS tracking systems currently on the market according to phantomEye.
For instance when working or travelling alone, a user can set an SOS countdown timer before starting a potentially dangerous task like bush walking alone, cleaning the roof or swimming alone, rock fishing or even base jumping anything that has a safe completion time element component, Mr. Stokes said.
For example, security guards on their rounds can also set the countdown timer. If the user fails to complete the task safely and stop the countdown within the designated time the pre-configured voice number is dialled from the phone automatically. Mr. Stokes said.
This is unique personal tracking but with privacy protection the user controls what location information is sent, when it is sent, and to whom, Mr. Stokes said.
All location data is logged at a central phantomEye server, he said. Our system offers the most convenient and discreet usage possible a single click for sending out a pre- composed SOS message to one recipient or cascade to many recipients. Notification is via e-mail, SMS, IM, twitter, and by automated voice calls.
While an increasing number of mobile phones use GPS navigation for a variety of functions, most often to give map location information and directions to the person using the phone. MySpot works in reverse it allows a pre determined group of recipients to keep track of, and locate, the user. I believe phantomEye can now claim the GPS leading edge by exploiting this niche technology software and turning mobile phones into a location documenting device, sending/recording serial location beacons/ electronic breadcrumbs and offering high priority alert forwarding capability he said.
The power of modern mobile phones is such that they are evolving as a hand held, multi functional communication system within their own right and are making redundant numerous conventional items such as the watch, the camera, and now the locating device, and emergency beacon.
The phantomEye MySpot system will be marketed internationally to a wide variety of users, including:
Travelling International Business Executives Health Staff and Councillors visiting outdoor patients Road, Rail, Transport workers, Telecom and organizations that employ people to work alone tending to outdoor assets for repair or checking Security companies with patrol guards Kids and Teenagers for keeping their families informed
As the Boy Scouts tell us, it is all about being prepared, Mr. Stokes said. In emergency situations MySpot allows users to get an SOS message out to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible. If you live alone, work alone, or travel alone you may at times just want to notify family members of your location (your electronic breadcrumbs). Sometimes, threats come up suddenly and you just want help from any quarter as quickly as possible. A SOS message triggered by a slide and click action from your phone via phantomEye.com will not only relay your location to all those people on your contact list, but also call up one emergency number you have defined. With slide and click ease it is almost a reflex action. he said.
