Tele Atlas (FSE: TA6, EUNV: TA), a leading global provider of digital
maps and dynamic content for navigation and location-based solutions,
today named Slifter (a GPShopper application) the winner of the Tele
Atlas Maps in Apps 2007 contest. Based on the application usability,
innovative use of map data and market potential of their LBS
applications, three finalists were selected to demonstrate their new
location-based solutions in the Tele Atlas booth at CTIA in October.
Visitors to the Tele Atlas booth and select websites cast ballots for the finalists: Slifter, Hollywood USA and KnowledgeWheres PhoneTag Elite(TM), selecting Slifters mobile shopping application as the winner of the Maps in Apps contest.
The Tele Atlas Innovators Series Maps in Apps contest provided Slifter with great exposure to key industry players, as well as users, said GPShopper CEO and Founder Alex Muller. We are especially excited about this award because it was voted on by the public, and reaffirms our commitment to making the shopping experience a little easier for consumers with the integration of location based technologies and maps.
Maps in Apps is part of the Tele Atlas LBS Innovators Series, an ongoing program held in conjunction with Tele Atlas DeveloperLink(SM) to help foster innovation and enable application developers to expand their visibility, credibility and success with key participants in the industry including investors, carriers and technology providers. The Maps in Apps 2007 contest was created to help spur the growth of consumer and business applications that utilize mapping or location to enhance functionality.
Of note, a key component of the Tele Atlas LBS Innovator Series, the Attendee Choice Awards at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2008 is accepting applications through November 25, 2007. Participation is open to all developers of mobile consumer applications using Tele Atlas data.
