High quality map data helps unlock the hidden value within corporate databases
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 12 -- Oracle OpenWorld -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital maps for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions, today announced the availability of its map database for Oracle Business Intelligence foundation and tools. This announcement builds upon last year's multiyear, worldwide agreement to incorporate NAVTEQ administrative boundaries into Oracle Database and other Oracle products. Today, NAVTEQ is announcing simplified licensing practices, on a capacity and user basis, for Oracle Business Intelligence foundations and tools.
For nearly six years, Oracle and NAVTEQ, a member of the Oracle PartnerNetwork, have collaborated to simplify and expand the use of map data in commercial, public sector and business intelligence (BI) applications, dashboards and reporting. Oracle customers now have the ability to license detailed NAVTEQ map data along with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus -- a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware. The inclusion of NAVTEQ map data allows customers to easily location-enable their critical business applications, resulting in cost reductions, productivity increases, and revenue opportunities.
When customers utilize NAVTEQ map data (administrative boundaries for countries, states, and cities; major highways, roads, and detailed streets; points of interests; zip code data; and industry specific data) along with Oracle Business Intelligence foundations and tools, they are provided with their own pre-packaged map framework against which they can view and analyze all customer, sales and asset data.
"NAVTEQ and Oracle have a strong relationship and commitment to delivering superior Oracle enterprise location solutions," said Roy Kolstad, vice president and general manager -- Enterprise Americas, NAVTEQ. "By using NAVTEQ's comprehensive features and functionalities, Oracle customers can boost efficiencies and control costs, while improving customer service and uncovering revenue opportunities."
"As business intelligence becomes more pervasive throughout organizations and is utilized by a broader range of end users, global digital map data is increasingly important for visualization and location processing," said Paul Rodwick, vice president of product management, Oracle Business Intelligence. "No other BI and Enterprise Performance Management software vendor includes world map data of this caliber in terms of scope, accuracy and business value. Customers and partners rely on Oracle to deliver the highest availability, performance, scalability, security, and ease of use for their spatial applications, and now can count on NAVTEQ's administrative boundary data, detailed street network, and industry specific data sets to derive additional value from their BI applications, dashboards and reports by adding a new dimension of data visualization and presentation."
