Mobile Monday Mid-Atlantic hosts panel on white hot mobile location
based services (LBS) market on November 19th. Energizing region as hot
bed for mobile funding and innovation.
November 5, 2007 (Philadelphia, PA)Following the well attended inaugural event that took place in September, Mobile Mondays (www.momo-ma.com) second meeting will focus on location-aware mobile applications.
Within this sector, in just the past month, Nokia has purchased Navteq (a speaker) for over $8 billion and there is currently a $3 billion bidding war for TeleAtlas between Garmin and TomTom.
Mobile Monday speakers include top names in mobile location-based services including Verizon, Traffic.com (Navteq), Smarter Agent, Ulocate, Airclic and TruePosition.
The free event, which takes place Monday, November 19 from 5:45 pm to 8:00 pm at the office of Wolf, Block, Schorr and Solis-Cohen LLP, will bring together a wide variety of professionals to help stimulate interesting and complex conversation in a relaxed environment.
The first meeting featured a great mix of start-ups, venture capitalists and regional corporations with a common interest in wireless mobility. Over sixty people were in attendance solely through word of mouth, which made for fantastic networking opportunities.
The global Monday Monday organization is known for its informal yet dynamic atmosphere, making it advantageous to learn about new ideas.
Leading the discussion during the second event are six panelists and a moderator that play on the national mobile stage:
Lisa Peterson is President of Peterson Mobility Solutions, a company that provides strategic consulting on location-based services and mobile data applications. She is the former Senior Manager of Location Based Services at Sprint-Nextel.
Dale Beasley is the Associate Director of Location Based Services for Verizon Wireless. He is a 15-year veteran in the wireless location space, and has co-authored numerous US patents in wireless location.
Bernard Borghei is Vice President of Customer Operations for True Position. He is responsible for deployment of the companys wireless location systems and services, customer support, and system engineering and integration worldwide.
Chris Rothey is COO of Traffic.com, a leading source for real-time traffic information in the United States. Traffic.com is now owned by Navteq, itself recently acquired by Nokia.
Ron Braunfeld is Vice President of Business Development at uLocate, a LBS application developer with live on-deck carrier applications. Prior to uLocate, Ron was Director of Business Development at Mapquest.
John Parker is the President of Airclic. AirClic-enabled wireless devices with advanced GPS tracking allows companies to capture and accesses job-critical information, including time, location, people, assets, inventory, and activities directly from the field.
Brad Blumberg, moderator, is CEO of regionally based Smarter Agent, one of the few mobile GPS applications to launch on the wireless carriers deck.
