First Fully Integrated Portable Mobile Navigation Device Featuring Real-Time Traffic Available This Fall
CHICAGO, Aug. 8 -- Cobra Electronics (NASDAQ:COBR) , a leading manufacturer of navigation and communication products, today announced the first fully integrated portable mobile navigation device that features real-time traffic information, the NAV ONE 4500(TM). Available at leading retailers this fall, the unit provides users with up-to-the-minute information on traffic incidents, congested roads and construction zones across the country.
"The average American driver now spends more than 50 hours in traffic every year," said Tony Mirabelli, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics. "The NAV ONE 4500 will help drivers escape from traffic entrapment by changing the way people commute to work, enjoy a leisurely road trip, pick up their kids or just get around."
The NAV ONE 4500 eliminates the hassle and expense of professional installation associated with other aftermarket navigation products. The product includes a traffic antenna that simply attaches to the windshield mount of the portable unit and moves with it from car to car.
"Cobra knows your dashboard -- we've been in the business of making products for vehicles for over four decades, and now we are delivering the first truly plug-and-go navigation system that will allow you to escape from traffic," said Mirabelli. "We know that there will be broad appeal for an aftermarket product that is portable, intuitive and fully integrated."
The NAV ONE 4500 is one in a line of mobile navigation products developed by Cobra to meet a variety of drivers' needs. The company first entered the mobile navigation market last year when it introduced the NAV ONE 3000, a portable plug-and-go unit featuring full mapping and a number of industry firsts. The product was the winner of two 2004 International CES Innovations Awards from the Consumer Electronics Association, including the company's first Best of Innovations Award.
