Complaint Filed in California's Central District Alleges Infringement of Three SiRF GPS Technology Patents

SAN JOSE, Calif., August 8  -- SiRF Technology, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of SiRF Technology Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ: SIRF) , a leading provider of GPS-enabled location technology, announced today that it has filed a complaint against u-Nav Microelectronics in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. SiRF's complaint alleges infringement by u-Nav of three of SiRF's GPS technology patents: U.S. Patent Nos. 6,297,771; 6,496,145; and 6,526,322. SiRF's complaint requests an award of both monetary damages and an injunction to prevent further infringement.

"Today's suit reflects our determination to protect our intellectual property," said Nicolas S. Gikkas, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel. "SiRF has a responsibility to its stockholders and employees to protect the intellectual property developed or acquired at great expense by the company. SiRF intends to ensure that its intellectual property is respected by those in the GPS business and is used only by those authorized to do so. Since u-Nav did not respond to our invitation to resolve this matter outside the courts, SiRF believes it is necessary to seek legal redress."
