NAVTEQ(R) Maps to Power Helio's LBS Suite
CHICAGO, Oct. 24 -- NAVTEQ (NYSE: NVT), a leading global provider of digital map data for vehicle navigation and location-based solutions (LBS), today announced that Helio, a popular mobile service, has selected NAVTEQ to be its preferred map supplier for the company's LBS application initiatives. NAVTEQ data for the United States will be the mapping foundation for Helio's location-based service offerings.
Utilizing NAVTEQ maps, Helio offers an array of LBS services. Helio's line-up of LBS services also includes some of the leading applications for localized search and turn by turn navigation.
"As a leading innovator in the mobile space, Helio continues to bring rich content that serves a desirable segment of wireless consumers," stated Winston Guillory, senior vice president, consumer and enterprise, NAVTEQ. "We are delighted to power the LBS applications of such an inventive wireless carrier."
Helio joined the judges' panel at the 2006 NAVTEQ Global LBS Challenge(TM)-- the premier event in the LBS industry-reflecting the company's movement into the LBS space. NAVTEQ's and Helio's mutual commitments to innovative and cutting-edge LBS services quickly resulted in Helio's selection of NAVTEQ as the preferred map provider for its line-up of LBS applications.
"Helio is focuses on providing our members with the best available location based services and we forged a relationship with NAVTEQ based on our common interest in the advancement and progression of LBS," commented Seung June Oh, senior product manager of LBS Helio.
