Tele Atlas LBS Innovator Series Announces “Maps in Apps” Contest Finalists

CTIA attendees invited to participate in voting to select winner
San Francisco, CTIA Wireless I.T & Entertainment, October 23, 2007 Tele Atlas (FSE: TA6, EUNV: TA), a leading global provider of digital maps and dynamic content for navigation and location-based solutions, today named the finalists for the Tele Atlas Maps in Apps 2007 contest. Based on the application usability, innovative use of map data and market potential of their LBS applications, three finalists were selected to demonstrate their new location-based solutions in the Tele Atlas booth (#1309) at CTIA. Visitors to the Tele Atlas CTIA booth will vote for their favorite application; ballots also are available at http://www.teleatlas.com/LBSSeries/MAFinalists/ , www.blackberrycool.com and www.LBSZone.com.
Maps in Apps is part of the Tele Atlas LBS Innovators Series, an ongoing program held in conjunction with Tele Atlas DeveloperLinkSM to help foster innovation and enable application developers to expand their visibility, credibility and success with key participants in the industry including investors, carriers and technology providers. The Maps in Apps 2007 contest was created to help spur the growth of consumer and business applications that utilize mapping or location to enhance functionality. The featured finalists are:
§ Slifter (a GPShopper application): Using a user's zip code or a phone's GPS/LBS, Slifter allows shoppers to search local store inventory for products (over 85 million products at 30,000 retail locations), view product information, images and store locations and maps. Shoppers can share their finds with friends or save them to a mobile shopping list.
§ Hollywood USA: This tour guide features movie locations across the country with added GPS deployment on the uLocate WHERE platform. Each site includes location photo and address, scene and plot description, stars, director and DVD cover image.
§ KnowledgeWhere PhoneTag Elite: Developed in partnership with LivePlanet, "PhoneTag Elite" incorporates location-based mapping and messaging technology to create a hi-tech game of hide and seek. Players can play with anyone across the United States by participating in existing games, creating private games with friends, or participating in cash tournaments. Objective of game play is to capture your target while evading capture.
One grand prize winner will be awarded $25,000 in cash and a license to Tele Atlas map data valued at $50,000; two runners up each will receive $10,000 in cash and a license to Tele Atlas map data valued at $20,000. Additionally, Tele Atlas named two semi-finalists in the contest: eureka!mobile, a mobile couponing application, and Smarter Agent, a mobile search application for real estate.
Mobile devices are increasingly equipped with GPS functionality and developers are proving that maps can enhance nearly every mobile application. Attendee Choice Awards at CES is part of the Tele Atlas LBS Innovators Series, an ongoing program held in conjunction with Tele Atlas DeveloperLinkSM to help foster innovation and enable application developers to increase their visibility, credibility and success with key participants in the industry including investors, carriers and technology providers. The contest entails:
WHO: Participation is open to all developers of mobile consumer applications using Tele Atlas data.
WHAT: Up to three finalist applications will be showcased on websites and in the Tele Atlas booth at CES 2008; visitors and attendees will vote for their favorite application.
