The Symbian Smartphone Show, London, UK - October 16, 2007 - Cortado's Online Services provides convenient and high-performance e-mail and business services for almost any Symbian smartphone.
With Cortado Free, a free-of-charge push mail service based on the industry standard IMAP IDLE supported by Symbian OS, is available for sending and receiving e-mails in real time. Additional Cortado mailbox packages also allow synchronizing calendar, address book, memos, and tasks. The Cortado premium services further enable Symbian smartphones to print, fax and view attachments.
Over the last two years the Symbian Platinum Partner ThinPrint has built the comprehensive online platform Cortado, now acting as an independent division to provide a wide range of mobile services which are suited for all Symbian smartphones. One principle of Cortado is to support industry and open standards and enrich these standards through unique applications.
With Symbian OS being the most open and popular mobile platform today, users can benefit from all Cortado services, which will even be extended with the new and future versions of Symbian OS.
"The open standards and flexibility of Symbian OS are driving the kind of innovation that allows ThinPrint to fully demonstrate the power and value of mobile business services on smartphones with Cortado", says Dirk Löwenberg, Business Director Cortado Services.
"Symbian is pleased to see that ThinPrint has taken advantage of the rich features and capabilities of Symbian OS to deliver a standards-based push email solution," said Andrew Moran, Head of Enterprise Market Development, Symbian. "The IMAP IDLE feature is available today in millions of Symbian smartphones offering businesses another business email option."
Apart from its free services, Cortado offers premium class customized mailbox packages that allow users to receive e-mails immediately with direct push on Symbian smartphones. Calendar, address book, memos, and tasks can be synchronized in real time. The Cortado services also include Hosted Exchange for BlackBerry® and Nokia Intellisync services.
