Agito Networks Introduces First Location-Aware Enterprise Mobility Platform to Make Mobile Convergence Work
Agito's RoamAnywhere Mobility Router Mobilizes Voice and Data Applications with Innovative Technologies To Deliver Mobile Worker Productivity and Reduced Mobile Expenses
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct. 15 - Agito Networks, Inc.(TM), a company pioneering new technology in enterprise mobility, today announced the next generation of enterprise mobility products -- its RoamAnywhere(TM) Mobility Router. The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router is the industry's first and only business mobile convergence platform that uses RF-based, location-aware technologies to better mobilize voice and data applications, while remaining agnostic to enterprise customers' choices of mobile carriers and equipment vendors.
In developing the product, Agito Networks has applied its expertise in WiFi and cellular RF technologies to enable enterprises to address the productivity needs of their mobile workforce while reducing the cost and complexity associated with mobile voice and data deployments.
Agito Network's innovative, patent-pending location-aware technology allows enterprises to mobilize voice by taking full advantage of their WiFi deployments as an alternative to cellular networks for in-building mobility. This enables enterprises to reduce up to 60 percent of their cellular expenses, and avoid deploying costly, carrier-specific equipment to address poor cellular coverage. To ensure a seamless mobility experience for mobile workers, the RoamAnywhere Mobility Router provides fast, automatic routing between the enterprise WiFi networks and any carrier cellular network.
With more workers today relying on their mobile phones as their primary business phone, challenges such as poor in-building coverage, rising cellular usage costs, lack of corporate control and visibility over cellular usage, and meager integration options for heterogeneous enterprise environments are significantly impacting their ability to effectively communicate and conduct business.
"Here at WestEd we have substantial growth of our mobile staff, and we need a solution that simplifies the process of reaching them," said Richard Wenn, Director of Interactive and Information Services at WestEd, a nonprofit agency with 16 offices nationwide working to promote achievement and improved learning for students and adults. "The Agito Networks RoamAnywhere Mobility Router appears to be a good fit with our move toward a VOIP strategy to improve communication for our teleworkers. The router's location awareness combined with its one-number identity capability provides a transparent hand off between wireless and cellular networks so that users don't have to think about switching networks each time they arrive at the office. I am excited about the fact that I will not have to ask staff to manually change their profile on their phone when they change locations."
Recognizing today's unmet enterprise requirements, Agito Networks' RoamAnywhere Mobility Router integrates with enterprise PBXes to unify mobile phones with enterprise desk phones. This integration makes users more accessible and responsive by providing them with a single enterprise number and voicemail, as well as PBX functionality -- such as extension dialing, hold, transfer, and corporate directory lookups -- on their mobile phones.
Agito Networks also announced the launch of its company today. For more information on the company's corporate launch, see Agito Networks' company launch announcement also released today at http://www.agitonetworks.com/.
Today's announcement from Agito Networks is yet another industry proof point that enterprises are not limited to legacy PBX or carrier-centric solutions to mobilize voice. The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, together with enterprise WLAN deployments and enterprise-class smartphones, addresses the IT challenge of providing cost effective, reliable in-building coverage for today's multi-carrier mobile workforce.
"The dual mode Nokia Eseries devices are ideal for businesses looking to mobilize their workforce with unified communications solutions," said Scott Hrastar, Head of Technology and Architecture, ES Mobility Solutions Unit, Nokia. "Agito's innovative eFMC solution is a great example of a Nokia Eseries solution that enables business customers to be more productive with seamless access to their corporate PBX while keeping the total cost of mobility in check."
The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router is unlike any solution seen to date. The patent-pending, RF-based location aware algorithms ensure that in-building calls stay on WiFi, maximizing cellular cost savings and eliminating dropped or poor quality calls. Routing between WiFi and cellular networks additionally includes key metrics such as cost, session quality, network reliability, user location, and device battery life to ensure maximum user accessibility and responsiveness.
The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router also delivers another industry first -- truly mobile policies. The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router's policy engine enables once static policies to be applied and enforced dynamically based on users' locations. These location-aware policies automatically adapt to where the user is, including work and home. With dynamic and adaptive policies, users are no longer required to remember to manually switch profiles on their mobile phones, simplifying their mobility experience.
The Agito Networks solution is designed to be simple to deploy in enterprises of all sizes. Provisioning users and mobile phones, including Windows Mobile and Nokia/Symbian dual mode smart phones, is streamlined by native integration with Microsoft Active Directory and LDAP directories, combined with simple, over-the-air client provisioning. The RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, a turnkey network appliance, enables rapid deployment with an intuitive web user interface and -- unlike other solutions -- requires no RF, WiFi, or cellular tuning.
Agito Networks' RoamAnywhere solution's hybrid architecture uniquely scales to thousands of voice users by following the industry best-practice of separating control traffic from data traffic. This hybrid architecture reduces appliance load, response time, and overhead, while maintaining end to end security. Distributed routing and policy enforcement across the appliance and the mobile handset enable reliable, stable, and secure operations.
"We are pleased to introduce the Agito Networks RoamAnywhere Mobility Router, the next evolution of the rising product category of enterprise mobility products," said Pejman Roshan, Agito Networks vice president of marketing and a company founder. "Our technology advancements enable enterprises to mobilize their workforce with confidence, and do it cost effectively."
