Senior appointment reflects changing market conditions highlighting the
increasing value of location-based solutions in property insurance
Windsor 11 October, 2007: Pitney Bowes Inc. (NYSE: PBI) today announces the appointment of Tony Boobier to EMEA Strategic Industry Manager for the Insurance industry, based at Pitney Bowes MapInfo in Windsor.
Bringing over 20 years of director-level experience across the insurance sector, Boobier is charged with developing location intelligence solutions within European insurance and reinsurance sectors. A leading player in the US insurance market, PB MapInfo aims to mirror its US standing within the European market, and Boobier is well-placed to carry the mantle.
Commenting on his appointment, Boobier said: Location Intelligence is the DNA of the property insurance sector and holds one of the keys to the future of the global insurance industry. Pitney Bowes MapInfo leads the world in location intelligence solutions. Its successful partnerships with global insurance leaders, in an increasingly unpredictable climate, will continue to reinforce the value of a location intelligent strategy at all levels of the insurance offering.
The unique combination of data, analytics, software and services in location intelligence places PB MapInfo as a one-stop shop for creating and implementing solutions for insurance sales and distribution, servicing and underwriting. Planned acquisitions will enhance that offering.
Having held a number of senior positions with broad international remits, Boobier has a successful track record in conceiving and introducing changes in the operations management of national, high-profile service and delivery organisations.
Commenting on the appointment of Boobier, John OHara, Vice President International Operations at PB MapInfo said: The climate is right for the insurance industry to fundamentally review the way they do business at all levels, from sales to claims to reinsurance to underwriting. Location intelligence unlocks the door to success in all these areas. In Tony, we believe we have hired the right man to take that message out to insurers. He brings excellent credentials, experience and standing in the industry, and were delighted to have him on board.
A well-known figure in the UK property claims industry, Boobier holds Fellowships and Memberships of a variety of professional organisations. He has built expertise in claims management, loss adjustment and European property insurance over a period of 20 years. His many notable achievements include Winner of the Lumina Award for Innovation in Reinsurance.
