Boston, MA - October 10, 2007 -- Amidst a flurry of news including carrier launches and an innovative, industry leading developer content, WHERE, the worlds first wireless GPS widget platform is pleased to announce in their latest release, three diverse widgets to the leading location based platform. Yelp, Zipcar and Topix have each debuted WHERE widgets within the past 30 days and are all currently available, in addition to WHEREs existing content, to subscribers on the Sprint and Alltel networks.
Yelp, a leading local guide, is the website where locals read and write about their favorite neighborhood businesses. In the two years since launch, yelpers have written over 1.6 million reviews on everything from restaurants to hairstylists to beaches. Now, through the Yelp widget on WHERE, users can quickly and easily find the top rated coffee shops, gift stores or other businesses within walking distance of their current location.
Zipcar, the worlds largest and fastest growing car sharing service, has launched the Zipcar mobile locator, a robust GPS-based mobile application that allows members to view and reserve Zipcar's worldwide fleet of vehicles based on their current location. The widget allows members to utilize WHERE to locate and view the nearest Zipcars on their mobile screen as well as instantly connect to Zipcar's reservation system to select a nearby vehicle.
Topix, a Top 20 news web site and the leading news community on the web, has also launched a WHERE widget. With news pages for all 32,500 U.S. ZIP codes, Topix mobile leverages WHEREs location enabled technology to feed users news or classified ads based on their current location.
The addition of the Yelp, Zipcar and Topix widgets to WHEREs already robust array of location enabled content reinforces our positioning as the leading mobile location based platform, delivering the best in location based content, said Walt Doyle, CEO of uLocate Communications. We continue to be the LBS platform of choice in paving the path of mobile content, working with leading brands to location enable their content. We look forward to continuing to provide our users with additional choices of content in the coming months.
