SAN FRANCISCO-- CNET (www.cnet.com), where people go to discover the latest tech and consumer electronics, and a property of CNET Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq:CNET), today announced it is now accepting entries for the Best of CES Awards at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Each year, CNET editors receive hundreds of entries from companies hoping to be selected as one of the hottest products at the show.

Submission is free and can be accessed through an online form at http://www.cnet.com/best-of-ces. The deadline to submit is November 30, 2007. Awards are given in 10 categories, including Best of Show and the Peoples Voice, which is chosen by CNETs online audience. The winners of the Best of CES awards are selected by the CNET editors, who are looking for the most innovative product that will set the standard from which all other products are measured in the coming year. Last years winner of the most popular categories, MP3 and Portable Audio, went to SanDisk Sansa Connect.

Were honored to be selected as a winner of CNETs Best of CES Award in 2007, which demonstrates our commitment to produce an innovative product for consumers to enjoy, said Eric Bone, vice president of marketing for SanDisks audio/video business group. Theres no other place where companies can find this type of validation where they are judged and selected by editors who review hundreds of products every day. This is a very notable and respected accolade that garnered us lots of additional attention at the show and beyond.

There is no other show like CES, where hundreds of companies launch the latest products to enhance our daily lives, said Jai Singh, editor-in-chief of CNET and senior vice president for Content Development. Its our responsibility to the thousands of people who attend and our online audience to help them explore a world gone digital. The Best of CES awards helps us boil down the top consumer electronics that will impact the future of technologies.

To qualify, all products must be on exhibit at the 2008 International CES in Las Vegas. Companies have the choice of submitting their product(s) for one of the following award categories: Digital photo and video; car tech and GPS; cell phones and smart phones; computers and hardware; emerging technologies; gaming; home audio; home video; MP3 and portable video players; and televisions.

Product demonstrates its potential to:

  • Excite people with its style, innovation, usefulness, ease of use, and/or capability to entertain.
  • Endow its owners with a certain cachet, the cool factor.
  • Make its way into everyday life.

The deadline for submissions is November 30, 2007. CNET editors will select three finalists in each of the ten categories.
