Sprint Subsidiary Launches Boost Navigator this Month
JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Telmap Inc. announced today that its market-leading mobile navigation technology has been selected to power the new Boost Navigator application being rolled out in September by Boost Mobile, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sprint Nextel. As the first Boost branded navigation application, Boost Navigator is customized to incorporate the Boost brand look and feel as well as to provide menu options catering to Boosts younger target customers. The application will be deployed on Boosts iDEN and CDMA handsets.
The two companies co-developed a Boost-branded location-based, turn-by-turn mobile navigation application providing driving and walking directions with voice, graphic and text-based guidance. In addition, customers are able to get maps on their Boost phones generated by Telmaps proprietary mapping and navigation platform; free-text local search for points of interest ranging from retail stores to restaurants and nightlife; and advanced address search capabilities with auto-complete and fuzzy matching to generate accurate results even from minimal or misspelled entries.
Having a Boost-branded GPS navigation application is a top priority for us because mobile navigation is very popular with our customers, said Craig Thole, Boost Mobile Director of Value-Added Services. Partnering with Telmap enabled us to shape the application to our demographic while keeping consistent with our brand experience.
Prepaid wireless service is one of the fastest-growing mobile market segments in the U.S., and Boost Mobile is one of the fastest-growing providers in the space. That makes this an important strategic addition to our customer base, said David Singer, Vice President and General Manager of Telmap Inc. At the same time, this partnership is another demonstration of our traction in the marketplace as well as the rising demand for GPS navigation on cellular phones.
Customers will have the option to pre-pay and purchase Boost Navigator as part of their daily, weekly, monthly or quarterly Boost package.
