Analyse Why GPS Phones Draw More User Interest Than PNDs In China PDF Print E-mail
Written by Research and Markets
Tuesday, 11 September 2007

DUBLIN, Ireland--Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c67992) has announced the addition of “GPS Phones Draw More User Interest Than PNDs in China” to their offering.

Adding a Global Positioning System (GPS) function to mobile phones is a hot topic in 2007, and both leading companies, like Nokia and Motorola, and smaller domestic companies, like Lenovo and Bird, have introduced or will introduce a series of GPS-enabled models this year.

There are, however, some questions surrounding the GPS issue. Will GPS turn out to be a hype concept like PMP, or do consumers really need it? Will the introduction of GPS-enabled handsets threaten China's growing personal navigation device (PND) market?

To better understand the market from the demand side, we conducted an online survey of 582 mobile users who, at the time of the survey, had no GPS devices.

This report answers a series of questions, including the following:

-What is the Chinese user awareness of and interest in portable navigation devices?

-How much are Chinese users willing to pay for a PND?

-How interested are Chinese users in GPS that is incorporated into other handheld devices?

-How much extra are they willing to pay for GPS that is incorporated into other handheld devices?
