INRIX Makes Real Time, Historical & Predictive Traffic Data Available to Microsoft Corporation PDF Print E-mail

REDMOND, Wash. – September 5, 2007 –INRIX® today announced an agreement with Microsoft Corporation under which Microsoft will have the right to use INRIX real time, historical and predictive traffic data for Microsoft online properties as well as Microsoft desktop and mobile applications.

INRIX has the broadest and most reliable real time traffic flow coverage available, featuring flow coverage in 106 metropolitan markets across the U.S. and U.K. and the most extensive real time incident coverage through its partnership with Clear Channel Radio’s Total Traffic Network.  The INRIX Smart Dust Network represents a traffic technology breakthrough that dramatically improves the accuracy, quality and coverage of traffic information and provides businesses, government agencies and consumers with the information they need to avoid gridlock, and save time and money. It works by blending anonymous, real time GPS probe data from more than 650,000 commercial vehicles across the U.S., road sensor information and other real time traffic flow information with hundreds of market-specific criteria that affect traffic – such as construction and road closures, real time incidents, sporting and entertainment events, weather forecasts and school schedules.

“Consumers are pining after ways to minimize the time spent stuck in traffic, locating a business or simply getting home after work,” said Ziya Genceren, Live Search Maps product manager at Microsoft Corp.  “INRIX’s approach to real time, historic and predictive traffic information offers a level of accuracy and reliability that brings value to our customers.”

 About INRIX

INRIX® is the leading provider of accurate real time, historical and predictive traffic information nationwide, providing over 40 industry partners and customers including Tom Tom, Microsoft, TeleNav, Clear Channel Radio’s Total Traffic Network, deCarta, Tele Atlas, TCS, Telmap and others with the highest quality data and broadest coverage available for personal navigation, mapping, and other location-based service applications in the car, online and on mobile devices.

INRIX Traffic Services leverage sophisticated statistical analysis techniques, originally developed by Microsoft Research, to aggregate and enhance traffic-related information from hundreds of public and private sources, going well beyond the limitations of static road sensor networks, historical-based models and cellular data aggregators, to offer customers the most sophisticated understanding of the unique system-wide traffic patterns in each metropolitan area. Additionally, INRIX offers real-time for 100 markets and incident data for 122 markets across the country.
