DUBLIN, Ireland-- Research and Markets
(http://www.researchandmarkets.com/reports/c63129) has announced the
addition of Mobile Video in the iPhone Era: Let the Boom Begin to
their offering.
On July 10th, Emerging Media Dynamics and Lightbulb Communications held a landmark audio event that brought together leaders in the mobile video distribution, content and technology businesses to hash out the state of mobile video in the iPhone era.
If you missed this event live, it's not too late to learn what took place. You can listen to a podcast of the event or order a transcript. With the radical changes taking place in this brand new video medium, you cant afford to totally miss out on the invaluable insight and timely reactions that Mobile Video in the iPhone Era delivered.
The mobile video marketplace is poised to boom in the U.S. and no single event has boosted the prospects of this still-nascent business than the launch of Apples iPhone. With its wider screen display and improved picture resolution, the iPhone has already propelled handset rivals to step up the introduction of their own video and web-friendly devices.
As the mobile video marketplace takes shape, propelled by the hubbub surrounding the iPhone, its not clear what path consumers will follow as they embrace what is now a fragmented, little-understood and relatively poor quality service option.
What You'll Learn
- Mobile Video in the iPhone Era: Let the Boom Begin was held on July 10th, 2 to 3:30 PM, and tackled the host of questions that mobile content providers face in the new mobile video era.
Among the issues and questions covered in this exclusive event are:
- Is the advent of the iPhone truly a landmark event in the mobile world or is does the iPhone merely signify that at last mobile video and Internet services have arrived? In other words, is the iPhone all that it's cracked up to be?
- What kind of content do consumers want to watch on their mobile-enabled devices? TV shows? Movies? Clips? Full-fledged video channels?
- Which business model will prevail in the mobile video marketplace? Ad-supported? Premium? Combination of the two?
- Much more!

Quotes:
"I think what Apple has done is just wrap it, as Apple is prone to do, in a very, very elegant package and then market it much more effectively than some of the other handset guys.."
Bob Swallow, Vice President and General Manager, Mobile Entertainment Group, Gemstar-TV Guide
"Our mission critical remains to become the must-have device. Our belief is that in the future youre not going to be carrying around two separate devices. So to the degree that we can continue to succeed across a variety of platforms where value is being delivered to the customer on whatever their particular flavour happens to be, if thats video, great, were going to focus very specifically on executing on it."
Ryan Hughes, Vice President, Digital Media Content, Verizon Wireless
"I think the whole debate about device convergence has been ongoing for several years now. This whole idea about what is the parent or master device. Is it a music player that acts like a phone or is it a phone that acts like a music player? I think the terminology and ultimately what kind of device convergence makes sense is still to be determined."
Chris Drake, Senior Director of Mobile Business Development, the Platform (A Subsidiary of Comcast)
